SKT Session 26 (8/14/23): Iymrith

King Hekaton urged immediate action. The party had helped both Uthor and Serissa back to a healthy state. Uthor had information on Iymrith's location. All the party needed to do was give the storm giants names and locations of those they wanted to aid them. Thanks to a long list of allies, the party ended up doubling in size. The group who would fight Iymrith included the usual party members (Joren, Seamus, Adonis, Dhrys, Calemor), the storm giants (King Hekaton and Princess Serissa), Thestryl, Kalannozz, Thadeus, Zephyros, and Felgolos. The team, comprised of eight humanoids, three giants, and one dragon, set off to fight Iymrith. Before leaving, Princess Serissa gave each of the party members a potion of giant size . This potion would allow them to grow to a size equal to that of the storm giants around them. They all agreed to use the potion right before fighting Iymrith. On the way to the Anauroch Desert, the location of Iymrith's home, the storm king commended the party fo...

SKT Session 25 (8/12/23): King Hekaton

The party watched in awe as the ship they rode in on fell to pieces in the water. The sending stone perked up once again. "Ettin, what are you doing? Ride the giants back to the ship!" Joren, doing their best impersonation of the figure they had killed and taken this stone from, explained that the giants weren't quite mobile in their current state. They were dead. So, the ship sent some merrow working for them to retrieve the group. Once everyone was onboard, the party was able to examine the crew. There were a few crew members who looked similar to the people the adventurers had killed in the water. The captain of the ship stood at the wheel. The other crew called this man "Captain Daggerdark" and while he had a rugged appearance about him, nothing really made him stand out from the rest of the crew. His first mate was a half-orc named Rool, dressed in dark leather with long, razor-sharp blades at his hips. The ship had an open, sunken middle. In this sunken ar...

SKT Session 24 (7/25/23): A Trap in the Trackless (Trapless?) Sea

Adonis explained what had happened in Helm's Hold. He wasn't dying, he was molting, but he didn't understand that in the moment. The thri-kreen burst forth from his shell, emerging into an entirely new being. A creature with glorious, silky wings and a strong exterior. Adonis was reborn. He had felt so different, so new, that he thought he needed to "get better" before rejoining the group. So, he decided to travel and train a bit, working his way down to Waterdeep. He was planning on tracking the party and meeting them again when he was ready, but fate brought the party to him first. Now was better a time than ever for the retired assassin to join forces once again against the dragon Iymrith. The party needed a ship. So, they looked around Waterdeep for a large enough ship to take them out to the Trackless Sea. They found a dragonborn captain by the name of Wallace Eroki who ran a ship called the Dwarven Beauty. "Don't interrupt my crew, don't get in ...

SKT Session 23 (7/18/23): Surfacing the Truth

"What has brought you to Maelstrom?" The giant atop the Wyrmskull Throne spoke to the party. Her pale blue eyes gazed upon each member of the party, looking them over, analyzing. "We have come to warn you of traitors amongst your court." Dhrys spoke up, telling the giant, who revealed herself to be Princess Serissa, about the dangers they had been told by the oracle. She seemed to believe them, trusting that there was someone lying within her court, despite her uncle, Uthor, on the throne to the left, and her advisor, Hytiirm, on the throne to her right, urging her not to trust smallfolk. The party filled Princess Serissa in on everything the oracle had told them, from her sister working against her, to a blue dragon having infiltrated the storm giant court. The princess decided to have her sister taken and held in her room for further investigation later, and on her exit, the party persuaded her to tell the truth. Neri confessed to having worked with Hytiirm, sayin...

SKT Session 22 (7/11/23): Escape to Maelstrom

Awestruck, the party watched as another of the Walking Statues of Waterdeep (the Griffon) was blasted apart by the dragons lightning breath. Reluctantly, the party, bringing along the red dragonborn they saw putting out the flames, named Cal, decided to face the dragon and moved towards the courtyard she was destroying. In the courtyard, the blue dragon and her gargoyles were torching and killing Waterdhavian civilians. Upon the arrival of the party, she stopped, and turned her focus to them. "Why are you here, Iymrith?" Nadhrys demanded to know the motivations of the dragon right away. "You know why I am here. Hand over the conches and I won't destroy the city." Analyzing the situation around him, Dhrys eyed the rest of the party and pulled out the conches. For a moment, it seemed as if he were going to hand them over to Iymrith. With a swift motion, Dhrys brought the conches to his lips and blew. Iymrith leapt towards the rogue, attempting to silence the conch...

SKT Session 21 (7/4/23): Moving Through Time

With their friends Adonis and Lucien dead, the party decided to split up accomplishing individual tasks for a while. Joren and Thestryl went to Neverwinter in an attempt to aid the Harpers in overthrowing the current leader of Neverwinter, Lord Neverember, and bringing the person who they claimed to be the "rightful heir to the throne" to power. Attending one of the weekly meetings in Neverwinter, they found out some surprising news. "By the request of Reina Alagondar, the Harpers will no longer be involving themselves in this political battle." After a failed attempt to retrieve a document from one of Neverember's homes, anyone in Neverwinter who was suspected of being involved with the Harpers was interrogated and apprehended. As a result, Neverember's political opponent, Reina Alagondar, requested the Harpers leave Neverwinter so that innocent civilians were not caught in the crossfire. After finding this out, Joren and Thestryl decided to seek out Reina ...

SKT Session 15-19 (4/18/23 - 5/30/23): The Sanctorium

The news took Adonis aback. Not a breath was had before he became aggressive and demanded more of an explanation. What did she mean she was involved in his creation? Why would she create him? Was she one of the scientists from his memory, the painful memories in the lab? Lady Silverhand began to tell Adonis of an earlier time, her first time as Open Lord of Waterdeep. She needed an army, and she knew that beings crafted from scratch would be extremely beneficial to the city and its inhabitants. One of her childhood friends, a cunning and crafty mage named Veharith Abess, proposed a blueprint to Laeral, a bug-like super soldier that was built for stealth and efficiency. While Laeral liked the idea, she disagreed with many aspects of the design, especially the fact that a failsafe was put in: the creature would "expire." After a certain number of years lived, the creature would begin to decay from within. Adonis and the party were appalled at this, and at the fact that Lady Sil...

SKT Session 14 (4/4/23): Another Castle in the Sky

The party looked to the sky and sees a castle similar to one they've seen before. However, upon close inspection, they were able to discern that this castle was not Lyn Armaal. The townsfolk around them were in a panic, with guards trying to calm as many people down as possible. "Please remain calm! The Lady is dispensing soldiers as we speak to inspect the floating castle!" While unsure of how to help at first, the party decided that they could bring their giant knowledge to the Open Lord of Waterdeep, Lady Silverhand, and, in exchange, get some information from her about the magical augmentation operations in Waterdeep. On the way towards Piergeiron's Palace, where the Lady hosted her visitors, Adonis wanted to make a quick stop at the Spires of the Morning, Waterdeep's temple of Lathander. Inside the temple was a great stained glass mosaic depiction of Lathander holding up a baby. In front of the mosaic, Adonis knelt to the ground and began to pray. "O Lat...

SKT Session 13 (3/21/23): Welcome to Waterdeep

"Rising from the shores of its deep harbor to ring the great mountain standing tall out of the Sea of Swords is Waterdeep, the City of Splendors and the Crown of the North. To all of Faerûn, this great metropolis stands as the pinnacle of what a great city might be, in wealth, influence, and stability. Here, the citizens work, the nobles sneer, and the great masked lords plot and scheme, all while merchants dance between them to collect their coins and continue profiting as best they can. Waterdeep’s shops and merchants offer goods of every sort from every corner of Toril, and even the rarest of items can be procured, given sufficient coin and patience. Adventurers lacking one or the other can very easily find all manner of employment, from simple escorting of caravans, to guarding nobility, to investigating a ruin or rumor of monsters anywhere in the North." The Harpers' guardian of the Waterdeep teleportation circle finished up her spiel and noted that tips from circle ...

SKT Session 12 (3/14/23): A Quick Stop in Neverwinter

Kimberly was in open space, floating in this void that appeared to be the ocean, the comforting humming surrounding them. Sensing the presence of their patron, Kimberly spoke up, asking questions about Slarkrethel and how they and he were related. The familiar voice, the voice that had granted them powers so long ago, spoke up, seeming to ignore these questions. "The aboleth needs to be punished for its insolence. Will you destroy it?" Kimberly agreed, telling the voice they trust it and will do as it says. Coming out of the conversation, a lightning bolt erupted from Kimberly's fingertips, killing the aboleth. The party finished up their business in Helm's Hold and began heading to Neverwinter, following Dhrys' recommendation. In Neverwinter, the party went shopping, purchased some things from M, who had a pop-up stand in town, and almost went to the beach. Eventually, they all made their way, directed by Dhrys, to a run-down looking townhouse. Inside this townho...

SKT Session 11 (2/18/23): Returning Home — Helm's Hold

Arriving in Helm's Hold, Lucien immediately returned to where he remembered his home being, and found it abandoned. The larger home it sat next to, the home of Triton and the Tonar family, also seemed abandoned. He decided to head to the only other person's home he knew, Elizabeth. Luckily, he found her here. "Lucien! I never thought I'd see you again!" Elizabeth quickly explained to Lucien that his family moved away from the Tonar home after some weird stuff started going down between the Lord and the Lady. Rumor had it that Lady Nyer Fencoria had moved away from the castle after things grew tense between her and Lord Prildaal Tonar. Prildaal had not been seen outside the castle since. Some townsfolk had even said that they still hear yelling coming from the inside of the castle late at night, but for the most part everyone believes it's completely abandoned. Thanks to Elizabeth, Lucien knew the location of his new home, and he urged the party to come with h...

SKT Session 10 (2/7/23): Reunion

Adonis was woken up by a gentle tapping sound on his window. Someone was throwing pebbles at the glass. He crept out of bed and carefully peered out of the inn's small, curtained window. It was Haara, who quickly spotted him, and waved for him to come down. She had a basket of sorts near her. Adonis decided to go see Haara. Before leaving through the window, he left a sign so that Dhrys would know he wasn't in any danger. Upon reaching Haara, Adonis found she wanted to spend some quality time with him, since things had gotten a bit out of hand the night before. She also had brought him a gift. "Good morning Galanodel! I was going through some old notes of mine, and I found this. I thought it might help you figure out your origins." With a wry smile, Haara handed  Adonis a page ripped from a book. The page had an image of a humanoid arm with its skin jagged and raised in a repeating, spiky pattern. Adonis read the following: Magical Augmentations:  With recent innovati...

SKT Session 9 (1/17/23): The Other Lost Mine

The next morning, the party woke up to find Adonis missing, his room empty and undisturbed other than a chair facing the door with a silver potion atop it. Dhrys recognized this chair placement as a message in Theives' Cant, basically stating that Adonis was gone, but there was no need for worry. With a free day ahead of them, the party decided they wanted to do some shopping, then take on one of the missions given to them by Haara. Lucien and Kimberly made some purchases at the general store, then found a small magic shop called "M's Wondrous Wares". There, they met an odd woman with purple hair, who offered them a wide array of magical items to purchase. Kimberly settled on buying some potions. Everyone having checked out the wares at this magical pop-up shop, the party decided to move onto the mission that Haara had given them: to investigate the disappearance of two of her adventurers. The party quickly made their way to the cave entrance south of Phandalin, then ...

SKT Session 8 (1/3/23): Respite

Bidding the Cult of the Dragon adieu, the party began to walk into Phandalin. The town consisted of forty or fifty simple log buildings, some built on old fieldstone foundations. Old ruins—crumbling stone walls covered in ivy and briars—surrounded the newer houses and shops, showing how this must have been a much larger town in centuries past. Some newer buildings were set on the sides of the road, which widened into a muddy main street of sorts. Oddly enough, some ruins appeared newer than others. Many people looked up as the party approached, but all returned to their business as they went by. Galanodel asked around for his friend, Trym, but no town-goers seemed to recognize the name. Speaking to a barkeeper, he described how his friend looked: halfling woman, dark hair, dark eyes, a minor green tint to her skin. The barkeeper recognized who he was asking for immediately, but she noted that he was describing Phandalin's sheriff, Haara. She could be found in the Townmaster's H...

SKT Session 6 and 7 (11/8/22 and 11/29/22): Lyn Armaal

Castellan Cressaro led the group through the castle. They passed many giant-sized rooms housing art, giant-sized furniture, and other odds and ends. Descending multiple sets of giant stairs and moving through long, spacious hallways, the group finally reached the ducal chambers. "I have no interests in the matters of smallfolk." Duchess Sansuri turned down the party's request to use her conch of teleportation . The party tried to reason with her, explaining their purpose in bringing down a blue dragon that was aiding in overthrowing the storm giants. However, Sansuri made it clear that she would rather aid in this overthrow than help the "puny" party restore the Ordning. She ordered her castellan to block the exits and commanded the party to surrender. The party was quickly thrown into a room with many humanoid-sized cages. Chained to the wall and floor was a bronze dragon, one that the party had not seen for some time. Felgolos, the Flying Misfortune, was muzzl...

SKT Session 5 (10/4/22): Saviors of the King

Multiple dwarven guards greeted the party as they approached. After hearing the party explain the assassination plot against the king, the dwarves explained that the adventurers would be allowed within the city as long as all non-dwarven members wore coverings over their eyes. "Only the dwarf may proceed without a blindfold." Cleverly disguised as a dwarf, Kimberly was the only party member allowed to proceed with sight. Delsephine, who was previously following the party, seemed to have disappeared into the shadows. Dhrys, tailing the party, saw that she entered the front gate through a discreet tunnel and observed the appearance of her contact: a feminine presenting drow. The party was led into the citadel by two guards. Following closely behind, Dhrys saw other dwarven guards start following behind the blindfolded party. They were led down a series of tunnels and hallways, past some openings and gathering areas, and finally down a darker passageway. Dhrys crawled up the wal...

SKT Session 4 (9/20/22): Decisions... Decisions...

One of the prisoners, the moon elf woman, let the adventurers know that she was a princess named Halani Meliamne and that she wanted to return to the Moonwood, the home she was taken from. She said that while she would not be able to give the adventurers anything beside her gratitude, she could promise safe deliverance of the other prisoners to the nearest town. As a result, the airship set off to the west, towards the Moonwood. "I do actually have something to offer. I have information." Along the way to the elves' home, the princess spoke up once again. She informed the adventurers of a plot that the yakfolk were involved in. The yakfolk have an ability to possess other creatures, and within the last week, they possessed some dwarven prisoners and sent them towards Citadel Adbar, reportedly to assassinate the king. With this news, the party decided that they would head to Citadel Adbar directly following dropping the freed prisoners in the Moonwood. On the way to the Mo...

SKT Session 3 (9/13/22): Escaping Ironslag

The fire giant duchess asked the adventurers why they were rifling through her things. When no one answered, she attacked! Her two ogres in aprons rushed forward with giant rolling pins, swinging them at the party. She drew a massive greatsword and begun swinging at the brave adventurers. However, the party was able to ward off the attackers, defeating the two ogres and forcing the duchess to surrender. She grabbed Galanodel and began to make a run for the duke, but was halted by the rest of the party, standing strong against her attempted flee. "You may take whatever you'd like, just let me live." The party made off with all of the contents of the chest as the duchess sat on her bed, clutching her wounds. Moving quietly, they were able to avoid the discovery of Duke Zalto. Upon reaching the yakfolk village, things were a little too quiet. No one seemed to be out and about in the village tonight, despite the disappearance of one of the chief's wives. Taking advantage ...

SKT Session 2 (9/5/22): The Forge of the Fire Giants

The airship quickly made its way due east, heading towards where the oracle said the Duke would be residing. Late into the evening of their seventh day of travel, the party saw what looked to be a village atop a spire-like mountain range. They decided that this must be the village of the yakfolk. Dhrys and Kimberly decided it would be best to approach as two travelers who were seeking an audience with Duke Zalto, the fire giant lord. They set up a way to communicate with the rest of the party telepathically, then flew down from the airship with the help of a fly  spell from Kimberly and pounded on the gate closing off the main part of the village. A tall, furry creature resembling a mixture between a yak and a man opened the gate and asked the two travelers what they wanted. "State your business." Dhrys spoke up and claimed that the two wanted an audience with the fire giant lord, Duke Zalto. Seemingly surprised that the adventurer knew the whereabouts of the duke, he further...

SKT Session 1 (8/29/22): The Chosen Path

After retrieving three relics (a giant's golden tooth, a mithral spear tip, and half of a giant's mask) from Uthgardt burial mounds, our adventurers made their way back to the temple. The party, now consisting of Lucien, the aasimar, Nadhrys, the drow, and Seamus the fairy, became acquainted with two other interesting people on the airship: Galanodel the thri-kreen and Kimberly the... human? Upon reaching the Eye of the All-Father, the party was reunited with Harshnag, the friendly frost giant, after a tenday of travel retrieving relics. Harshnag was delighted to see the party once again, and ordered them to speak with the oracle to be delivered their fates. The party moved through the already open portal, and placed the relics onto the ground in the center of the oracle's chamber. The torches on the six giant statues surrounding this area burned bright as the chamber rumbled and the relics sunk into the floor. The oracle spoke clearly to the party. "Travel east, o’er ...
