SKT Session 4 (9/20/22): Decisions... Decisions...

One of the prisoners, the moon elf woman, let the adventurers know that she was a princess named Halani Meliamne and that she wanted to return to the Moonwood, the home she was taken from. She said that while she would not be able to give the adventurers anything beside her gratitude, she could promise safe deliverance of the other prisoners to the nearest town. As a result, the airship set off to the west, towards the Moonwood.

"I do actually have something to offer. I have information."

Along the way to the elves' home, the princess spoke up once again. She informed the adventurers of a plot that the yakfolk were involved in. The yakfolk have an ability to possess other creatures, and within the last week, they possessed some dwarven prisoners and sent them towards Citadel Adbar, reportedly to assassinate the king.

With this news, the party decided that they would head to Citadel Adbar directly following dropping the freed prisoners in the Moonwood.

On the way to the Moonwood, Lucien had a dream. He was in an open, dark space. Nothing around him. Void. Turning around, he saw the face of one of the only people he remembers from his past: Triton. Triton warmly greeted Lucien, then began to ask him some questions.

"Who are you? Who would you like to be? Given the choice between regaining your memory, or continuing on to help people without your memory, what would you choose?"

Lucien responded that he believed he was someone good and he wanted to continue to help others. Triton seemed satisfied by this answer and urged Lucien to continue on his path. He faded from Lucien's view.

The dream continued. Lucien began to saw a woman in a kitchen, cutting fruit. He felt like he knew this woman, and when she turned towards him, seemingly noticing his presence, he realized: this was his mother. He was quickly pulled into unconsciousness, despite him crying out for the dream to continue.

The next day, the party dropped the prisoners in the Moonwood and continued on their journey. While they received no material compensation, they felt the forest empowering them as thanks.

The fortress was reached a few days later. Carved out of a mountain spur, the fortress consisted of two great towers ringed with spikes to keep large flying creatures from landing to attack the structures directly. The great chimney of the citadel’s central foundry stood between the towers, belching smoke like a volcano about to erupt. Ringing the citadel was a host of platforms, battlements, and arrow slits from where defenders can fire crossbows at foolish attackers. Dhrys stayed behind for his own safety as the party and Delsephine set off to cross the bridge leading to the entrance of this great fortress.
