SKT Session 12 (3/14/23): A Quick Stop in Neverwinter

Kimberly was in open space, floating in this void that appeared to be the ocean, the comforting humming surrounding them. Sensing the presence of their patron, Kimberly spoke up, asking questions about Slarkrethel and how they and he were related. The familiar voice, the voice that had granted them powers so long ago, spoke up, seeming to ignore these questions.

"The aboleth needs to be punished for its insolence. Will you destroy it?"

Kimberly agreed, telling the voice they trust it and will do as it says. Coming out of the conversation, a lightning bolt erupted from Kimberly's fingertips, killing the aboleth.

The party finished up their business in Helm's Hold and began heading to Neverwinter, following Dhrys' recommendation.

In Neverwinter, the party went shopping, purchased some things from M, who had a pop-up stand in town, and almost went to the beach.

Eventually, they all made their way, directed by Dhrys, to a run-down looking townhouse. Inside this townhouse, there were two people, a younger human girl named Sandyse Thunderquill, and an older elf man named Iolas Magjyre. Both revealed themselves to be members of the Harpers, a powerful faction found on Faerun who stand for fairness and equality for all, and treated Dhrys as if he were one as well. Dhrys filled them in on the recent occurrences with Syl Vallar, and explained how they needed to get to Waterdeep. Before allowing them to use the teleportation circles, Iolas asked if Dhrys and the party could help them out with a clandestine operation.

"We need an important document retrieved from one of Neverember's establishments."

Lord Neverember was the current ruler of Neverwinter, but the Harpers had reason to believe he was a corrupt and unfit ruler. Harper agents in Neverwinter have pinpointed the location of the document linking a living person to the Alagondar bloodline, the rightful rulers of Neverwinter. They believed it to be in one of Neverember’s large estates in the abandoned southeast of the city. Iolas couldn't send his own agents because Neverember would be able to track them back to the Harpers, and this could put their presence in Neverwinter in jeopardy. A skilled team mostly disconnected from the Harpers and fully disconnected from Neverwinter would be ideal for this kind of mission.

However, Dhrys declined, saying the party had more pressing matters at hand. They understood, and allowed the party to use the teleportation circle in their basement, sending everyone to Waterdeep. The party ended up in another small underground room which, upon leaving, they found was in the middle of a cemetery.
