SKT Session 1 (8/29/22): The Chosen Path
After retrieving three relics (a giant's golden tooth, a mithral spear tip, and half of a giant's mask) from Uthgardt burial mounds, our adventurers made their way back to the temple. The party, now consisting of Lucien, the aasimar, Nadhrys, the drow, and Seamus the fairy, became acquainted with two other interesting people on the airship: Galanodel the thri-kreen and Kimberly the... human?
Upon reaching the Eye of the All-Father, the party was reunited with Harshnag, the friendly frost giant, after a tenday of travel retrieving relics. Harshnag was delighted to see the party once again, and ordered them to speak with the oracle to be delivered their fates.
The party moved through the already open portal, and placed the relics onto the ground in the center of the oracle's chamber. The torches on the six giant statues surrounding this area burned bright as the chamber rumbled and the relics sunk into the floor. The oracle spoke clearly to the party.
"Travel east, o’er mountains and snow, to distant spires. There, on a cold mountainside, you’ll find a village of yakfolk and below that, Ironslag — the forge of the fire giant duke. The conch you seek is in his quarters."
The voice boomed once again, telling the party of their second destination.
"Travel southeast to the untamed moors, and look to the sky for Lyn Armaal — the castle of the cloud giant countess. The conch you seek is in a secret chest. Search the highest spire!"
Each of the statues' torches went out, and only the glow of the portal lit the room. After some deliberation, the party decided on attempting to find Ironslag first.
Exiting the oracle's chamber, the party saw Harshnag in a hostile stance, near the main statue of Annam. Moving a bit closer, everyone saw why as a massive blue dragon crunched through the snow at the entrance of the temple. She noticed Nadhrys, then the other party members, and her toothy maw curled into a grin.
"What a pleasant surprise! You're the pesky bunch who stole from my children! Now I'll get my information, and I get to watch you die."
Harshnag urged the party to leave, saying he would distract the dragon. The party heeded his warning and escaped the temple as Harshnag cleaved into the massive statue of Annam, causing the temple to begin to crumble. The blue dragon, Iymrith, lunged towards Harshnag, digging her claws deep into his sides. The party made it out and onto the airship.
All they heard as the airship flew away from the crumbling temple was the enraged roar of a dragon.
